Robin L. Kusilka, MA, AT, MFT

Robin is a Marriage and Family Therapist and Clinical Art Therapist in California.  She graduated from the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill with a Bachelor’s degree in Biology and then received her Master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy and Clinical Art Therapy at Loyola Marymount University-Los Angles in 2014.  While in graduate school Robin completed her thesis entitled Perceptions of Healing:  Implications of Mind, Body, Spirit. Robin believes the path to healing and wellness is through the balance of these three concepts allowing for unique and unlimited growth and potential.  She has been working with individuals, couples, families and groups at a community-based mental health agency and private practice.  As a result of  Robin’s education, work and life experiences she is able to provide a safe space for exploring the path to wellness and re-discovering the authentic self.

Robin utilizes a Psychodynamic approach including inner-child exploration, Object Relations and Depth Psychology as well as a Humanistic, Client Centered method.  She customizes each client’s needs and treatment using a variety of tools including psycho-education, art, mindfulness, meditation and body awareness. She is trained in the evidence-based practices such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Seeking Safety.  She has also been a member of the California Association of Marriage and Family Therapist (CAMFT) since 2012 and is an active member of the Long Beach South Bay chapter.
