About Brainspotting

Brainspotting is a relatively new therapeutic technique developed by Dr. David Grand in 2003 that uses eye positions to help access and process traumatic or emotionally charged experiences in the brain.

During a brainspotting session, the therapist will guide the client to identify a specific physical or emotional sensation associated with a particular issue. The therapist will then help the client locate a "brainspot" by following the client's eye movements to identify an eye position that activates the emotional or physical sensation. This eye position is thought to correspond with a specific area of the brain where the traumatic or emotionally charged memory is stored.

Once the brainspot is identified, the therapist will guide the client to focus their attention on the sensation and allow it to process and release. This can lead to a reduction in the emotional intensity and physical symptoms associated with the traumatic or emotionally charged experience.

Brainspotting is often used to treat trauma, anxiety, depression, and other mental health issues. It is believed to be a powerful technique that can lead to rapid and long-lasting healing. However, it is important to note that it may not be effective for everyone and should only be conducted by a trained and licensed mental health professional.
