Ashlei Lien, MS, LMFT
Ashlei Lien has been working as a therapist for over a decade, helping individuals and
couples overcome various mental health challenges (anxiety, trauma, relationship
issues, women’s issues, LGBTQIA+ concerns). She is a licensed marriage and family
therapist with specialized training in several evidence-based treatment modalities,
including Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), Individual-
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (ICBT), Child-Parent Psychotherapy (CPP), Brainspotting, Gottman Method Couples Therapy, Seeking Safety, and Alternatives for Families: A Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (AF-CBT).
Through her work with couples, Ashlei has helped many people strengthen their
relationships with their partners. She understands the importance of communication,
trust, and emotional connection in healthy relationships, and uses the Gottman Method
Couples Therapy to help couples develop these skills. She also helps couples navigate
difficult transitions, such as becoming parents or dealing with infidelity.
Ashlei has extensive experience helping people overcome anxiety and manage stress.
She uses a variety of evidence-based techniques such as mindfulness, cognitive-
behavioral therapy, and relaxation techniques to help her clients increase their overall
sense of wellbeing. She understands how anxiety can be debilitating and often impacts
one's ability to function in daily life, and works closely with her clients to develop
strategies that help them manage anxiety in a healthy way.
In addition to anxiety, Ashlei has a particular interest in helping women and folx from the
LGBTQIA+ community navigate the unique challenges they face. She understands that
women's and LGBTQIA+ issues are complex and multifaceted, often involving
relationships, body image, parenthood, career, and identity. She creates a supportive
and non-judgmental environment where folx can explore their thoughts and feelings and
gain insight into their experiences. She helps her clients develop skills to manage
stress, improve communication, and cultivate self-compassion.
Ashlei is passionate about helping individuals and families heal from trauma. She is
trained in several trauma-focused treatment modalities, including TF-CBT and CPP,
which she uses to help her clients process their experiences and develop coping skills
to manage symptoms such as anxiety, depression, and post-traumatic stress disorder
(PTSD). She also works with clients who have experienced various types of abuse,
including sexual abuse and domestic violence.
Throughout her career, Ashlei has remained committed to helping her clients achieve
their goals and improve their quality of life. She continues to pursue ongoing training
and professional development opportunities to enhance her skills and knowledge in the
field of mental health.
